The Funniest Flight Attendant Ever

Last week I flew to Connecticut for work.  In full disclosure, I have misspelt Connecticut every single time I've attempted to write it for the last month.  Thank God for spell check.

Boarding my return flight, I was done being in Connecticut.  Nothing personal to anyone from there, I was just ready for home.  Didn't get an aisle to myself, but shared one close to the front with a guy whose named I later learned was Ivan.  Ivan was born and raised in Brooklyn NY, flying to Houston for med school.  The imminent accent crossroads before him was rather humorous to me.

11 Years of God's Grace

11 years ago today Jeannette & I started an amazing journey together.  Standing on that little hill at Meyer's Castle, with family, friends, and the youth group all around, we could never have guessed all that the next 11 years would bring.  But as the cliche goes, we wouldn't change anything.

The Mess & The Iceberg

Yesterday I wrote about the 7-11 owner Jeannette & I talked with who was robbed at gunpoint.  The idea of lingering pain is still on my mind (yes, it's lingering), so this will be my cud for awhile.

Do you tell people what you're feeling or what you're going through?
Do you open about things you've gone through, whether they are part of your past or present?

As far as our feelings and hurts and ideas and fears and doubts and dreams go, we treat the idea of sharing any of them, of opening up, a lot like company coming over.

I Was Held Up At Gun Point!

On our way home from a concert Sunday night, Jeannette & I stopped at the 7-11 on 167th in Oak Forest. The number of times we've been in this particular 7-11 can't really be accurately counted, as we used to live right across the street.  This was our easy place for coffee, Slurpee's, and milk.

I Cried Like A Baby

Wednesday morning I posted the story of when I almost lost my iPhone.  Just a note for the cynical: every part of that story was true, including the punch in the gut part at the end.

After hitting the post button I was sat in my office thinking about that gut punch and my life, my expertise in screwing up, and my warehouse of questions.  It wasn't a dark cloud moment, but it wasn't time for cartwheels either.

I Lost My iPhone!

Late afternoon on Monday Jeannette & I took off to Indy for a couple meetings I had.  For the 3 hour trip I was wearing my usual uniform of shorts, t-shirt, and sandals, but had my "work clothes" of slacks, polo, and...sandals ready to change into upon arriving at our hotel before the first meeting.

We hit some horrible construction traffic part way down and realized we were going to be cutting it short getting to my 7pm meeting.  Rather than banking on being able to stop at the hotel first, we pulled into a rest area so I could change in style.

Spoiled

If you are one who likes to hear teaching about God, the Bible, and life, then you'll agree after seeing the below list that recently I have been incredibly spoiled.  I've been at three different conferences in the last 8 days.  As the phrase goes, it's been like drinking from a fire hose.

Walk

This video was part of the Friday morning session at Willowcreek's Leadership Summit.  It is truly a powerful video and I think it would be worth your 3 minutes and 37 seconds to watch it: WALK VIDEO

Inception

Monday night Jeannette & I  were finally able to see Inception. Like when we saw Avatar, we were coming in a couple weeks after the initial release.  Part luckily, part purposefully, I didn't read anything being said - so, I managed to come in as normally desired: with only the general plot idea and no spoilers.
