25 years ago today one of the best sports movies ever made was released: HOOSIERS.Gene Hackman plays coach Norman Dale, leading a small team of players from a small town to the state championship. It is an amazing story that gets to the heart of small town ball and what it means to be part of a winning team.
So many great scenes and great lines. It's a movie that never gets old and will be just as amazing in another 25 years. Being one who likes using movie clips in teaching and preaching, I could do a whole series on community, work ethic, and using your gifts.
If you haven't seen this movie, you are missing out. It is required viewing for those from the Hoosier state, but that's a given.

On YouTube I can't find my favorite scene, when Hackman runs his first practice. But you can't go wrong with the final shot:

great stuff, Bobby. I've used the scene where Ollie wins the game in messages about finding your role, everyone having a place, stepping up and shining, etc.
This one never gets old. I'm listening to the soundtrack as I work.
During warm-ups in high school we would always do a layup for Ollie...the one where he slams it off the bottom of the backboard.
Greatest basketball movie, period.
