Johnny Cash kissed my Great-Grandmother on the Cheek!

If you don't know who Johnny Cash is then stop reading this now, turn off the computer, get on your knees and ask God for forgiveness, go buy The Essential Johnny Cash CD's, listen to them 5-10 times, and then come back to finish reading this.

My Great Grandmother, "Grannie Parsley," passed away when I was 2 years old.  Though I don't remember her, I heard over the weekend the coolest story ever.

The story also involves my Great Uncle Tommy, who was a singer and guitar player.  He performed quite a bit and opened up for various people.  Over the weekend we learned that he once opened for Johnny Cash!!!

That...is...amazing!

Apparently Uncle Tommy took Grannie Parsley to a Johnny Cash concert.  Having opened for Cash, my Uncle was able to take Grannie backstage to meet him.  Here's the rest of the story from my mom:

Ok, I had no idea that Uncle Tommy was an opener for Johnny Cash back in the day.  I knew he sang with a lot of people but just didn't realize that.

Obviously the time Tommy and Louise took Granny Parsley (Papa's mom) to a Johnny Cash concert she got the picture, letter written, a handshake and kiss on the cheek and he called her honey.  Louise said she was like a teenager when that happened.

That's the picture he gave her and letter he wrote.  I know I was too little to remember her, but her coolness level went through the roof with this story.  As did my uncle's.

My uncle opened up for Johnny Cash!
My great-grandmother met him, got a letter from him, and he kissed her on the cheek!

Yeah, my family is awesome.   =)
