Don't read this post if flatulence offends you

The names and places in this story have been changed to protect the innocent and not embarrass the guilty.  =)

A couple weeks ago while visiting a public place I was having a pretty intense and serious conversation with an individual. It went from a conversation about some personal matters he was dealing with into a intense theological discussion/debate. Great conversation.

About 6-8 minutes into our discussion, the gentleman was making a rather passionate argument about what we were discussing.  In mid sentence he released an enormously boisterous amount of flatulence. Very loud. Huge. If he was part of an orchestra he'd of made the lead tuba part in a second.

The guy didn't break stride for a instant! Kept on with the sentence he was making and didn't change facial expression. No acknowledgment whatsoever, neither a chuckle nor an "excuse me." He just kept on rolling.

Now here's the really impressive part, if I do say so myself: I didn't react either! There was probably a millisecond where I began to crack a smile. But when I realized he wasn't going to say anything I went stone cold poker face.

Let me confess, it took everything in me not to bust out laughing. We're in the midst of this deep theological conversation, but the only two things going through my mind were, "Don't laugh! Don't laugh! Don't laugh!" and "How is he not laughing?!?"

Apparently though I was blessed in that moment with an extra dose of self-control, because it can be the only explanation of why crack. It was that loud, it was that funny.

Moral of the story?  There isn't one.

Just wanted to provide a laugh today.

Because sometimes that's what we need.
