One year of school down: Hot! Hot! Hot!

Last weekend was Baylee's last day of preschool, complete with end of the school year music program. Baylee's class did "Hot, Hot, Hot"

Two really funny parts of the video:
  • Around the 00:44 if you listen close you can hear Jaxon yell for Baylee from the audience =)
  • Just after 02:02 some serious booty shaking takes place
One year of school done.

We found out on Tuesday that she is accepted to be a student at the Walt Disney Magnet school. Incredibly grateful. Grateful but now we're just one blink away before she'll be heading to college.

Ugh.

Want to help make a movie?

Misha Geno, my friend from church, makes movies. She is an amazing fashion designer with a great artistic eye and passion for story telling. She uses her art as a wardrobe stylist to bring characters to life within their story.

Misha has an sweet opportunity before her! She has been asked to be the wardrobe stylist for a feature film called, "The Umbrella."

She explains that the movie is "about Jared, who is haunted by his past, not dealing with his pain, and disengaged from life in the present. He uses his “imaginary” umbrella to shield him from life, but he soon must make a choice: to finally let go of his umbrella and find the freedom that comes from living honestly.

The film is being made by YWAM (Youth With a Mission). Oh, and I forgot to mention, it's being filmed IN AUSTRALIA!!!

Do you want to be part of the crew with Misha? She is looking for partners! People who want to join the film crew! Check out this short video:
Please consider joining Misha with me! This is going to be a really amazing film!

Week in review #11

Just woke up from getting over 9 hours of sleep last night. Can't remember the last time that happened. But based on the past week, the extra sleep was needed:

White Ribbon Day: Remembering 9/11 [VIDEO]

The day after the attacks, my friend Dave Trout came to me with 8-10 hours of 9/11 news footage recorded on one VHS and an idea for a video. The plan was to create for church a montage video, set to the song, White Ribbon Day. After two all nighters, about two hours before services started, the memorial video was finished.

Here it is:

Week in Review

This past week I was at the NACC conference in Cincinnati, and it was a non-stop experience. I started every morning at 8:30am and didn't get back to the hotel room until 10pm. Add to the craziness of the conference itself the fact that the internet signal in the convention hall was horrendous, there was pretty much no chance for blogging this week. So at home now, I blogger...

Little Drummer Boy

Great rendition here by Jimmy Fallon & Jack Black:

This song has always been one of my favorite Christmas tunes. Its lyrics succinctly stating the human condition:

We are all poor.
We have no worthy gifts to bring.

And yet the baby came for us.

And that is the beauty of the gospel.

Fainting Goats

At Moody I teach a class called, "Teaching the Bible."  It's not as redundant as that sounded.
John, one of my students, was teaching his final lesson yesterday and showed this video:

I Cried Like A Baby

Wednesday morning I posted the story of when I almost lost my iPhone.  Just a note for the cynical: every part of that story was true, including the punch in the gut part at the end.

After hitting the post button I was sat in my office thinking about that gut punch and my life, my expertise in screwing up, and my warehouse of questions.  It wasn't a dark cloud moment, but it wasn't time for cartwheels either.

Walk

This video was part of the Friday morning session at Willowcreek's Leadership Summit.  It is truly a powerful video and I think it would be worth your 3 minutes and 37 seconds to watch it: WALK VIDEO

Mile Deep

Our New Life location just ended a discipleship campaign today called MILE DEEP. We had 137 people participate at various levels throughout since we started in February. This is the video I edited for the service today when we acknowledged people:

Drive-Thru Church

Lupe, our worship leader at NLOF, showed this video yesterday before his message. Both funny and unfortunately true in many ways:
